•Polka dots, like the trusted leopard spot, or the floral print or nautical stripe, never seem to be off trend for too long at any one time. Even though the dainty little dots are my least favourite of patterns; they conjure up thoughts of a horrible party dress I wore in 1995, I still love seeing a classic refreshed as seasons change and time swishes by. I was excited to see that the AW11 catwalks were a plenty with variations on the polka pattern and I've spotted a few pieces which I love. As with any animal/floral print or loud design, I like to keep my dots minimal and wear them in splashes and against block colours and have put together my favourite finds for the upcoming season below. How will you wear yours?!

Chain Cross Body Bag £18 @ Monsoon
Bing Bang & TIMO.WEILAND Necklace £41 @ ASOS
Marc Jacobs Scarf @ net-a-porter
Gold Ring (Price On Request) @ Verdura
Wide Leg Trousers £45 @ Topshop
Alessandra Pumps £170 @ Paul Smith

Whilst compiling the above, a girl my photographer friend Emma and I had noticed in East London some time ago popped in to my mind. Meryl was shopping for treasures with her friend Tota (who I have previously blogged about on the style stalker feature) and I remember thinking at the time how perfectly she suited the opaque white tights and tiny polka dotted shift dress. I also recall making a note that Meryl was head to toe in vintage and underlining the words Note to self: I can't pull this off. She looks effortlessly 'done' but more importantly hasn't overworked the pattern, instead complimenting it with a solid tone and basic accessories ... A good example of less is more if I've ever seen one!xoxo
